You should be given a lecture that includes

  • 9 hand signals to comunicate with your instructor
  • How to clear water from your mask
  • Altitude and diving restrictions
  • Aquatic environment awareness

Scuba equipment orientation and use

BEWARE!!!! If your instructor simply hangs a regulator around their neck and describes it’s use BEWARE!!!! ASK the company before you book your scuba diving class in Maui if they do that, if so, you DO NOT want them!!!! You should have the equipment ON, and trained to use it prior to entering the ocean!!!

  • How the Buoyancy compensator works
  • How to clear water from your mask
  • How to clear water from your regulator
  • Regulator recovery (finding your regulator), if it is falls out of your mouth and
  • clearing water from it
  • How to inflate your buoyancy compensator at the surface

  • Use of air gauge, and when to end the dive
  • Proper and SAFE surfacing technique

Shallow water training

You should be given a demonstration followed by a skill assessment from your scuba instructor in shallow water PRIOR to going for the dive.

Proper learning materials & paperwork is the Scuba Discovery Booklet with a quiz and registration form.

If you are only given a piece of paper to fill in your information and a medical questionire.

This a direct violation of the training standards set forth for ALL instructors of the ProfessionalAssociation of Diving Instruction!!!

What is the Resort Scuba Class in Maui?

This is the Discover Scuba Diving Class. Also known as the Intro Dive Course here in Maui. The class is perfect for tose that wants to try scuba diving under the supervision of a PADI scuba Instructor. You can do a single dive, or use this towards your scuba certification. If you want to pursue the sport further during your stay or at a later date. Just ask your instructor for more information. If you do not want to get certified and just dive multiple times during your stay in Maui. Then you can just continue diving with your instructor. Since you have already done all your safety orientation and safety skills, you will just go out and dive and get better on your air and dive time dive after dive.

A Beginner’s Primer to Scuba Diving

Have you always wanted to try scuba diving? Some people can’t wait to get the chance, while others may a have fear of being in the water and may be more tentative. In either case, this sport offers something for everyone. But before you jump in, here is some advice for this exciting adventure!

A Test Dive

Many companies offer courses that include a test dive, so you can determine if you enjoy it before buying a bunch of equipment that will then go unused. Even the best scuba divers often started out this way. The course will teach you what you need to know for safe Maui scuba diving. Then you’ll go on an ocean dive together, but with an instructor nearby. You’ll only go down a few feet or to a maximum of 40 feet. This can give you what you need to decide if you want to do it again, or get certified.

Stay Healthy

If you find that your dive is scheduled at a time where you feel sick with a cold, flu, or other illness that relates to your health, you might want to wait for the dive. If you are having issues with your sinuses, diving can create unbearable pressure in your ears. You should also be sure you are comfortable in the water, and know how to swim.

Take it Easy

Your first Maui scuba diving experience can be pretty exhillerating. You’ll be putting on some cool equipment, and entering an environment, you aren’t used to. Just remember that you have an instructor there who is experienced and will not allow anything to happen to you. When you’re anxious, you breathe more quickly, which might mean a short dive. Listen to your instructor for tricks to help you relax as much as possible.

Conserve your air

If you breath excessively while diving, it causes you to need more oxygen. Instead, breathe deeply and slowly. Bring the air into your lungs, pause, then exhale slowly. This can help conserve oxygen. Moving gently is also a good idea to limit oxygen use. The first dive is pretty low-key, so you don’t need to do too much too quickly.

Safety First

Avoid diving if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Follow your instructor’s directions. Stay close to your group. Wear sun block when you are above water. Don’t forget to drink plenty of fluids when you’re on the surface especially on hot days.

What to Expect from Scuba Classes

Getting the chance to go diving is an experience unlike any other. It can be a rewarding and enriching life experience to interact with curious and colorful marine life. Diving is relatively easy, and just requires a little training before you get started. Here are some of the steps to get started.

Are You Physically Able?

Today, almost anyone can learn how to dive. You simply need to be basically fit and be comfortable in the water to dive. You’ll be given a medical questionnaire to ensure diving does not put you at risk. There are only a few medical conditions which might be contraindicated for diving.

Choose Your Course

It’s important to know how to use your gear and knowing how to check and use it properly can minimize risks. You’ll need to enroll in scuba classes to learn how to enjoy the underwater world safely. There are different types of courses available, from beginners who just want to learn enough to get in and swim around for awhile to fully certified divers. Choose what level you desire.

Buy/Rent Diving Gear

Of course scuba diving is a sport dependent on equipment. A diver will need a full set of gear before getting started. Most scuba classes include the rental of all necessary gear in the price of the class. Actually, most divers never own a full set of gear except for the personal items like a fins and mask.

Time to Practice

Part of the instruction you will receive will be practicing with an instructor. You’ll learn how to clear water from the mask, and how to operate the regulator. A certified instructor will help you with the basics and get you started.

Maui Scuba Capital of the Universe

Why is diving Maui one of the most popular things to do for those who visit Hawaii? Let us count the ways:

Learning

For beginning scuba enthusiasts, diving Maui is the ideal way to learn in the best possible environment. In addition to the awesome weather (see below), Maui offers a large contingent of highly-experienced scuba teachers. Diving Maui is a smart way to begin your scuba “career,” because you’ll have access to instructors who know how to teach the basics, and that is essential in a safety-sensitive sport like scuba.

Scenery

Above and below the water, the local scenery is breathtaking and makes a lasting impression on one’s memory. Underwater reefs, natural sea life, and one-of-a-kind flora unique to the area are just a few of the scenic highlights that people enjoy when they end up diving Maui.

Hey! You’re in Hawaii

The most obvious advantage for diving Maui is the fact that you’re not in the continental U.S. or some landlocked body of water. You’re in Hawaii, one of the most naturally gorgeous spots on planet earth. That beauty is clearly evident beneath the water as well. When it’s time to take a break from scuba at the end of a long, fun day, there’s an endless list of exciting activity choices to look forward to.

Weather

You can take advantage of diving Maui any time of the year. Unlike some other scenic scuba destinations, and there are plenty of them, Maui offers year-round agreeable dive weather.

Camaraderie

Scuba is a sport best practiced with others. Because Maui is a top diving destination, there are always plenty of chances to meet up with others who enjoy this incredible, intriguing sport. Maui could rightly be called the global capital for scuba diving.

There’s really no better spot for new and experienced divers than Maui.

If Using YELP as your go to source for Reviews?

Think Again!!!

They use Strong leveraging techniques to force businesses to advertise with them.Rated as a top scuba company in Maui since 2002 to present. In2Scuba Diving Maui Dive Co. has had thousands of divers over the years that have had nothing to say but 5 STAR reviews about In 2 Scuba Diving Maui and how Ty & Deborah treat our divers and operate this company. Yelp has tried to get us to advertise with them from the beginning and I have always refused. The first time I refused, they dropped half of my reviews. Yelp Best Scuba Diving in Kaanapali or Lahaina Maui?

Then SURPRISE! They got hit with a BIG LAWSUIT for doing this and were busted for doing their “No advertise with us or we drop your reviews game.” They wormed their way out of it with heavy duty lawyers. Since then, they have implemented their “Not recommended review section.” That has such a light font it is not seen. Still, they tried to get me to advertise with them, and again I refused This time I gave them an ear full of how I feel about their rail road business owners and consumers business TACTICS. NOW… Any time I get a review that my customers have taken their valuable time to write (and their kids) posting pictures etc. They are dumping them in the “Not recommended review section”…  68% of them!!! That is a staggering amount!!! These customers have been and are getting upset that their reviews are just getting dumped. Why? Because I do not advertise with them and they have the POWER to do so. From what I’ve seen… On average, business’s that advertise with them only get 26% or LESS of their reviews dumped in the “Not Recommended Review Section”.

This Blog post went live on 7/25/17  Today is 4/26/20

ALGORITHMS They say….? Yeah right!!! With a DUMP BUTTON.

Update: 04/26/20

Yelp have now dumped 122. All 5 Star reviews  showing only 76 all 5 star reviews

Below is from Yelps site

“122 reviews for In2Scuba Diving Maui Dive Co that are not currently recommended”

Note: The reviews below are not factored into the business’s overall star rating. of my customers reviews in the not recommended section. There are only 30 left for people to see.

THAT’S 62.22 of my customers reviews they are dumping.

Yelps SUCKS!!!  Don’t trust them! Don’t use them! Spread the word!!!

By the way… EVERY ONE of In 2 Scuba Diving Maui reviews on YELP HAVE been 5 star reviews. And they continue to dump them.

A couple months ago, I had a customer of mine that works for YELP. He told me. “They are doing this” and was very reluctant to tell me how they do this, but said. “They do it on an ongoing basis and that he does not like workng for them due to their sly business practices.”

Yelp Scuba Kaanapali or Yelp Lahaina scuba diving Maui search in Google and see what comes up and how many that advertise with YELP are higher rated, and have the most recommended reviews versus the not recommended reviews. You will see why TripAdvisor & Google are more trusted as a review site.

Tripadvisor uses REAL PEOPLE to filter the reviews. YELP uses an “Algorithm”  (as they say). Funny how their “Algorithm” knows that a company just turned down a sales call from them and that it will DUMP ten reviews over the next week. Also from I’ve and heard from a customer that is a Yelp employee, they can alter what they want in the results.

Look at the list of searches I have done below and how Yelp is dominating all the small scuba dive companies search results so that they click on their yelps favored advertisers that are listed higher in the result ranking page. Then look at how many are recommended reviews in favor of the ones that advertise versus non advertising companies.

When is The Best Time of Day to Scuba Dive or Snorkel in Maui?

Scuba diving and snorkeling in Maui or anywhere around the world is typically the best between 10 am in the morning and 2 pm in the afternoon. This is due to the sun being higher in the sky. The sun angle being more above the surface of the earth allows more light to penetrate the water. Thus, allowing you to see more of the colorful reefs and fish that lie below the surface of the water.

Time of day to Scuba dive in Lahaina, Kaanapali or the west side of Maui is definitely important. Here’s why. On the west side, or on the south side of the island, we have clouds that have formed at the mountains peaks. The earlier it is in the day, the more the sun is behind them. That being said, there is the mountains that caused the clouds to form so densely. They cast a shadow over the west facing shores. This of course results in a darker dive or snorkeling experience.
